Coy Wendell Adams, age 37, passed away May 2, 2024, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was born on March 22, 1987, in Johnson, Kansas, the son of Troy Lynn and Cheryl Ann (Josserand) Adams. Coy was named after his two grandfathers, Coy Wayne Adams and Oliver Wendell Josserand.
Coy grew up in Johnson and graduated from Stanton County High School. Coy was adventurous and talented from a young age. In his childhood years, he was a member of 4-H, a church praise band, and a self-taught drummer. When time permitted, he worked on the family farm. He attended Kansas State University for two years with music as his choice of study. He was a member of the concert band, jazz band, and KSU marching band in which he played the cymbals and snare drum. During his time in Manhattan, he was also the percussionist of a recreational band that often played shows in Aggieville. While attending college he began his trade in landscaping for Blueville Landscape and Nursery in Manhattan. He took pride in his work and quickly became a master tradesman. Coy married his high school sweetheart, Megan Renee Ainsworth on April 28, 2012, in Johnson. They resided in Junction City Kansas, for the next six years before deciding to take their love for the outdoors to Colorado. As an avid outdoorsman, Coy enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking and camping. Often bringing along their beloved Australian Shepherds, Sydney and Jessi. His favorite place was in the mountains.
He will be remembered for being a humble and caring person.
Coy is survived by his wife, Megan, of the home; parents, Troy and Cheryl Adams of Johnson; brother, Tyson Adams and wife, Mandy, of Johnson; sister, Ashley Heatherman and husband, Joe, of Satanta; grandmother, Martha Adams of Johnson; four nieces and one nephew; parents-in-law, Kent and Beverly Ainsworth of Johnson; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Coy is preceded in death by his grandparents, Coy Wayne Adams, and O.W. and Nancy Josserand.
Graveside service will be Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 10:30 AM at the Stanton County Cemetery in Johnson with Pastor Corbin Kellum officiating. Visitation will be Friday, May 10, 2024, from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Johnson.
