Police: 19-year-old accused in murder of Kansas man

Around noon Tuesday, police responded to the 1400 block of Minnesota Avenue following reports of a shooting. First responders found 34-year-old  Norman E. Carter III with multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body.

Responding officers immediately started life-saving measures until Sedgwick County EMS arrived and transported Carter to a local hospital. He was pronounced dead at 1:01 p.m, according to Ford.

Police detained a person of interest in their investigation and later booked 19-year-old Amunique Cavitt into jail on requested charges of first-degree murder, according to the county arrest report.
