Hays will get a glimpse at farming history this weekend. Carrico Implement in Hays is hosting its 4th Annual Antique Tractor Show Saturday September 7th from 9am – 4pm. Though the event is hosted by the local John Deere dealership, all brands of tractors and implements will be welcome.
Cindy Eichman told Hays Post that every year they add a little more in the way of events.
“We always have the slowpoke race. This year we’ve added ‘back to the post’ where the tractor actually has to back up to a post with a ball on it and not knock the ball off. Then we have an egg balance contest where an egg is put on a plastic spoon and zip tied to the draw bar, and they have to drive 100 feet without dropping the egg. These are antique tractors, so balancing that egg without dropping it is kind of tricky.” She added that there will be a kid’s tractor pedal pull as well.
There will also be a parade through the Carrico grounds at 2:30 and an awards show at 3:30. People are welcome to bring lawn chairs to watch the parade as well as other events.
Eichman said that the event pulls people from all over Kansas and Nebraska, with some coming from as far as Cheyenne, Wyoming. She said that as of Tuesday, there were around 70 entries for the show.
