KANSAS CITY—One person died in an accident just before 8a.m. Friday in Kansas City.

A Jaguar S-type was northbound on Holmes at 133rd where it traveled around the lowered train warning arms, ignoring the warning lights and audible signals, according to KCPD Officer Alayna Gonzalez.

The Jaguar then attempted to cross a second train crossing. The front engine of the approaching train struck the car.

The unrestrained driver and sole occupant of the Jaguar was pronounced deceased at the scene. The train crew, engineer and conductor, were not injured in the collision.  Police have not released the name of the driver who died.

This is fatality #35 compared to #22 at this time last year, according to Gonzalez.
