🥎Offense leads TMP past Dodge City in doubleheader sweep

HAYS – The TMP-Marian Monarchs earned a two-header sweep the Dodge City Red Deamons Friday in Hays with the offensive providing a walk-off victory in the first game and a run-rule victory in game two running their win streak to five straight.

GAME 1: TMP 9, Dodge City 8
In the first game of the doubleheader the Monarchs collected 15 hits and Halle Dreiling’s two-run double gave the Monarchs the walk-off victory.

Dodge City started the scoring in the top of the first inning before TMP got an RBI double from Dreiling tying the game at one and then she scored on a wild pitch for a 2-1 TMP lead.

The Monarchs added a third run in the bottom of the second as the two teams went back and forth on the scoreboard. Teagan Gottschalk plated the run with a bunt, she finished with four RBI’s in the game.

Dodge City scored four run in the top of the third taking a 5-3 lead. But Gottschalk answered in the bottom of the inning with a two-run triple tying the game at 5.

After Dodge City scored two more in the top of the fourth they led 7-5 before Dreiling drove in one of her runs in the games making it 7-6 Dodge City.

Both teams were held scored in the fifth and sixth innings before Dodge City added another run, taking an 8-6 lead into the final frame.

In the seven Gottschalk single home a run making it 8-7 and then with the bases loaded Dreiling delivers a walk-off, two-run double to left-center field lifting TMP to the 9-8 victory.

Dreiling was three-for-four with four RBIs. Gottschalk also finished three-for-four with four RBIs.

Bria Windholz earned the win in relief for TMP. She allowed on hit and one unearned run in two innings.

GAME 2: TMP 10, Dodge City 0
In the second game of the doubleheader the Monarchs offense picked up right where it left off in the first game, TMP scored nine runs over the first three innings and won 10-0 in five innings.

Halle Dreiling drove in the game’s first two runs in the bottom of the first inning and Bridget Feldt followed with an RBI groundout and then a bases loaded walk by Molly Helget put TMP up 4-0 after one.

In the second inning it was more of the same for the Monarchs.

Brooke Koenigsman drove in three runs on an inside the park homerun as the Monarchs built a 7-0 lead.

Dreiling and Koenigsman added back-to-back RBI singles in a two-run third putting TMP up 9-0.

Then in the fifth the Monarchs closed out the run-rule victory when Brynn Rebel scored on a Dodge City error giving TMP the 10-0 victory.

Koenigsman matched her season and career-high with six RBI’s as she finished three-for-three with two runs scored. Halle Dreiling also collected three hits and scored three times.

Bria Windholz earned the win in the circle. She didn’t allow an earned run for a fourth straight outing. She scattered three hits over five innings with three strikeouts and two walks. She’s 7-1 on the season.

TMP will host Hoisington on Tuesday.
