High wind warning issued by weather service today

The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for portions of central Kansas, southcentral Kansas, southwest Kansas, and west central Kansas due to high winds.

Intense northwest winds are expected midday and early afternoon today, with gusts as high as 60 mph across the northwest zones.

Areas of blowing dust and difficult travel are expected.

Affected counties include Trego-Ellis-Scott-Lane-Ness-Rush-Hamilton-Kearny-Finney-Hodgeman-Pawnee-Stafford-Stanton-Grant-Haskell-Gray-Ford-Edwards-Kiowa-Pratt-Morton-Stevens-Seward-Meade-Clark-Comanche-Barber.

The National Weather Service has also issued high wind warnings for  Grant-Haskell-Gray-Ford-Stevens-Seward-Meade-Clark counties.

Including the cities of Hugoton, Cimarron, Ulysses, Meade, Plains City, Fowler, Ashland, Liberal, Satanta, Montezuma, Dodge City, Minneola, and Sublette.

Northwest winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph are expected from 2 to 7 p.m. today.
