Eagle Radio's Armbruster to receive KAB Hod Humiston Award

TOPEKA - Eagle Radio's Dustin Armbruster is the 2024 recipient of the Kansas Association of Broadcasters Hod Humiston Award.

The award is given annually to a Kansas broadcaster who has made significant contributions to the field of sports broadcasting as well as work in the community.  The award is named for Hod Humiston who was the first television sportscaster in Kansas when he did play-by-play coverage of college games for KTVH (now KWCH TV), channel 12, Wichita.

Armbruster becomes the fifth Humiston award recipient who has worked in the Hays market joining Bob Davis, Wyatt Thompson, Steve Webster and Gerard Wellbrock.

Armbruster serves as the play-by-play voice of Hays High athletics on 96.9, KFIX as well as an analyst on Fort Hays State broadcasts. He is co-host of the Bull Morning Show on on KKQY (101.9) and is the  operations manager at Eagle Radio-Hays. Armbruster is a multi-award KAB Award winner and two-time recipient of the Kansas State High School Activities Association Oscar Stauffer Award (2022, 2013) for high school play-by-play.

Armbruster will receive the Hod Humiston Award on Tuesday, April 23 as part of the KAB's Sports Broadcast Seminar at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Mo.
