Andrew J. “Andy” Lang, 90, Hays, died Thursday, August 21, 2014 at the Via Christi Villages, Hays.

He was born September 9, 1923 in Sterling, Colorado the son of Bernard and Anna (Pfeifer) Lang. On August 6, 1948 he married Mary Jane Staab in Catharine, Kansas.

He owned and operated the White Front Inn and the Track Inn, both in Lewisville, CO, owned and operated the Frontier Post, the Vine Street Bar, and the famous Wagon Wheel Inn in Hays, KS, and was a supervisor in the custodial dept. at Fort Hays State University until his retirement. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, the Schoenchen 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus Council #4166, and enjoyed playing cards and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, of the home, four sons David Lang and wife Cindy of Monroe, WA, Wayne Lang and wife Tammy and Donald Lang and wife Martha, all of Hays, and Alan Lang and wife Susan of Wichita, Kansas, one daughter Dianne Patterson and husband Charles of Ellis, nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Eleanor Berger and Marietta Janda.

A true, traditional Catholic Latin Mass will be held at 12:00 noon on Monday, August 25, 2014 at the Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1906 Pine. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00pm on Sunday and from 11:00 am until service time Monday, all at the funeral home. A Knights of Columbus rosary will be at 7:00 pm on Sunday and a family rosary will be at 11:30 am on Monday, all at the funeral home.
