The Ellis American Legion baseball team goes 3-1 this weekend at the Goodland tournament, defeating Burlington, Colorado and losing to Goodland on Friday then knocking off Syracuse and Rooks County by run-rule on Saturday.
In their 14-9 win over Burlington Friday, Koltyn Ratliff got the win on the mound, allowing five hits while walking seven and striking out seven over six innings. Ellis was held to just three hits over the first three innings and trailed 7-2, but rallied with 15 hits the rest of the way. Kolt Washburn finished 4-4 and Bradyn Parke went 3-3 with a triple. Overall, Ellis had seven doubles and a triple.
Their only loss came at the hands of Goodland Friday night by a score of 8-6. The game was called after six innings due to time limit. Will Crabill pitched all six innings and takes the loss, giving up seven hits while walking five and striking out four. Goodland scored six of their eight runs in the third inning. Ellis finished with 10 hits and were led by Scott Pfeifer going 3-4.
In their first game Saturday, Ellis run-ruled Syracuse 12-3 in five innings. Cole Pfeifer gave up three hits while walking one and striking out seven for the win. Ellis pounded out 12 hits.
They closed out the tournament with a 13-4, four inning win over Rooks County. Scott Pfeifer gets the win after giving up four hits and walking won with seven strikeouts. Ellis had 9 hits and were led by Cadyn McCoy who went 2-2 and Blake Hudson who was 2-3.
