KHAZ Country Music News: Lee Ann Womack Sang at Maya Angelou’s Funeral

khaz lee ann womack 201406098WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) – It was one of Maya Angelou’s favorite songs. And Lee Ann Womack got to perform “I Hope You Dance” at the poet’s funeral over the weekend. Womack joined first lady Michelle Obama and former President Bill Clinton in the tribute to Angelou, who died May 28 at age 86. Angelou was said to have been inspired by Womack’s song, which urges people to take risks and live to the fullest – something many speakers Saturday said Angelou did during her life.
