Hays Monarchs sweep Ellis

The Hays Monarchs bounced back from their first loss of the season with a couple of run-rule wins in Ellis Wednesday. The Monarchs scored four in the second to take a 7-2 lead then blew the first game open with a six-run third and win 13-3. They score seven in the fifth inning of their 9-1 win in game two.

Jordan Gottschalk had three hits and Taylor Wasinger drove in four in the first game. Kameron Schmidt picks up the complete game victory, striking out three over four innings.

Liam Stults pitched all five innings for the win in game two, striking out seven. He also went 2-for-3 at the plate with a double and two RBIs.

The Monarchs improve to 4-1. They are off until next Thursday when they travel to Dodge City for a doubleheader.
