The Hays Eagles Senior American Legion baseball team scored five runs in the bottom of the fourth to break a 2-2 tie then extended their 8-6 lead with four in the seventh and two in the eighth as the they open their season with a 15-5 win over the Hays Monarchs Monday night at Larks Park.
Kaden Rohr and Kade Parker both had four of the Eagles 19 hits. Both hit a pair of doubles. Parker drove in four and Rohr three. Layne Downing also doubled and drove in three.
Rohr was one of four Eagles pitchers and picks up the win going three innings and allowing three runs on six hits.
Cameron Brin takes the loss in relief for the Monarchs, allowing six runs on five hits.
Ryan Schippers had two this and drove in two for the Monarchs who drop to 2-1.
The Eagles host Russell Wednesday at six at the Hays High Field. The Monarchs are in Ellis for a doubleheader tomorrow also at 6pm.
