Ellis baseball falls to Troy

Ellis baseballThe Ellis Railroader baseball season came to an end Thursday evening with a loss to Troy in the first round of the 2-1A state baseball tournament in Great Bend.

The Trojans opened with two runs in the first, and single runs in the third, fifth and sixth innings on their way to the 5-0 win over the Railers.

Troy starter Nathan Gaarder held the Railers to just three hits and struck out nine in seven innings to pick up the win.

Ellis starter Brandon Bollig allowed five runs, three earned and struck out six in six innings in the loss.

Ellis finishes the year 12-9.

The Railers are also inviting the public to a meet and greet on June 11th from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Arthur’s Pizza and Mexican Food in Ellis.
