The predicted severe thunderstorms passed Ellis County by on Wednesday night, but the system did drop some much-needed rain in the area.
Measurements at Eagle Media Center were 0.44 inches of precipitation, which was similar to reports throughout the county, which ranged from 0.56 inches in far eastern Ellis County to 0.36 in the northwest portion.
The heaviest rainfall from the system fell in south-central Nebraska, according to the CoCoRaHS reporting system.
The extreme southeast portion of Kearney County, Neb., reported 2.78 inches of rain.
Logan, Ford and Meade counties reported hail. The strongest wind gusts — 58 to 60 mph — were reported in Norton and Phillips counties. A semi was blown off Interstate 70 Wednesday night near Salina. The driver was hospitalized.
The forecast calls for a return to clear skies today and Friday, with the next possibility for rain expected this weekend.
