KFIX Rock News: John Mellencamp Upset With Candidate Using His Music

melleninMADISON, Wis. (AP) – It’s happened again. Another rock star is taking issue with their music is being used by a political campaign.

This time, it’s John Mellencamp and the politician is conservative Republican Governor Scott Walker of Wisconsin.

Walker has used the song “Small Town” on the campaign trail.

Walker supports an anti-union stand for most public workers. But Mellencamp says he favors collective bargaining – and the governor ought to know that.

For his part, Walker says he’s been a Mellencamp fan for years – and will keep playing his songs.

As Walker put it: You don’t have to agree with his politics to like his music.
