KFIX Rock News: Def Leppard, KISS To Hire Two Military Vets To Serve As Roadies On Tour

Kiss-Def-Lep-PosterNow that KISS has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the band is turning its attention toward its upcoming 40th anniversary tour, which also will feature Def Leppard.

KISS’ current lineup visited NBC’s Today show on Friday morning to promote that they will be hiring two military veterans to serve as roadies during the summer trek, which kicks off June 23 in West Valley City, Utah.

In choosing their special road crew members, KISS and Def Leppard plan to hold a nationwide search in conjunction with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation and Capital One’s Hiring 500,000 Heroes campaign.

Veterans interested in the jobs can apply by visiting Military.com/Heroes.  Applications must be submitted by May 9 at 11:59 p.m. ET.

Speaking about the initiative on Today, KISS frontman Paul Stanley declared, “People have to realize that the freedoms and the liberties we enjoy here we take for granted.  The people that make it possible are part of the world’s greatest volunteer army.  These people risk limbs; they risk their lives for us.  We owe them everything, so [we're hiring] a few of them just to bring attention to [that] fact…God bless our troops.”

Def Leppard’s Joe Elliott added in a statement, “Having our own wounded warrior in [drummer] Rick Allen, we’ve always had a close tie with the military.  To carry on and further our contribution by giving a little back, and hopefully helping fulfill a dream or two, we’re more than happy to show our support.”

KISS and Def Leppard plan to provide additional support to troops and veterans by donating $2 from each ticket sold to their upcoming joint concerts to various military-themed nonprofit organizations.
