HHS girls’ soccer falls in McPherson Invite semifinals

The Hays High girls’ soccer team dropped their semifinal match of the McPherson Invitational 4-0 to Maize South Friday night. The Mavericks held a 1-0 lead at the half following a goal at 32:52.

They would score again at 32:13 then add two more less than a minute apart at 18:16 and 17:23 for the final margin.

Hays had six shots on goal to the Mavericks 10. Both goalies recorded six saves.

The Indians are now 2-1 on the season and will play Newton in the third-place match at 2pm Saturday. The Railers lost 2-1 to Andover Central in the other semifinal Friday.
