KFIX Rock News: Ozzy Osbourne To Be Honored By Grammy Academy

ozzymain2SANTA MONICA, Calif. (AP) – Ozzy Osbourne says he has gotten help over the years with his battles against addiction.

And he says he’s happy to help another organization that also saves the lives of those who struggle with substance abuse.

This year’s MusiCares benefit concert will honor the Black Sabbath singer for his support of the MAP fund – which helps people in the music industry battle their addiction demons.

In a statement through MusiCares, the Osbourne says, “I know firsthand about the ravages of addiction and I also know that the MusiCares MAP Fund is a vital safety net for people in the music industry who need help with substance abuse.  This organization literally saves lives.”

Ozzy will perform at the event – along with Slash, who will do a guest turn on the guitar.

The event is set for May 12 in Los Angeles.
