KFIX Rock News: Brian May Issues Health Update; Uncovers Queen Rarity

brian-may-4-jez-c-selfQueen guitarist Brian May has shared some good news about the recent health problems he’s been experiencing.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, who a few weeks ago revealed he’d undergone tests for cancer, reports in a message posted on BrianMay.com this past week that his doctor told him no cancer cells were found in a biopsy done on his prostate gland.

Adds May, “As far as that vital organ is concerned, I am — thank God — in the clear.  It’s a great relief.”

The 66-year-old rocker does note, however, “There are still some mysteries to be solved, but I am going to take a moment to count my blessings, and get back into life in the big wide world.”

May initially reported that he began visiting doctors last month to try to determine the source of serious pain he’d been experiencing during the previous few months.  He explained late last month that his physicians did find abnormalities in his back, but the tests he’d taken up to that time hadn’t found any cancer.

Meanwhile, May also announced that he and Queen drummer Roger Taylor have been preparing for release some rare recordings from the band.

He wrote that one song he was working on this past week “has the four of us, Freddie [Mercury], John [Deacon], Roger and myself, playing together on a track that we’d all forgotten about that was never finished.”

He reports that, while the song has been “carefully transferred into the ProTools environment, [it sounds] exactly like it did off the 24-track tape it was recorded on…OVER THIRTY YEARS AGO!”

May adds that both he and Taylor are working on separate songs in their respective “studio set-ups,” and says that they plan to get together to “compare notes very soon, and figure out where we go from here.”
