Huelskamp: America can do better, Mr. President
Washington–Friday morning the Labor Department released bleak employment numbers for the month of December. A mere 74,000 jobs were added to the U.S. economy—among the lowest in three years. Representative Tim Huelskamp issued the following statement:
“America can do better, Mr. President. With this anemic jobs report from the worst economic recovery since the Great Depression, there is no doubt that the policies of President Obama and the rest of the Democratic Party have failed. While the unemployment rate has dropped, it’s sadly because millions of Americans have given up their search for employment. In total, a shocking 24.2 million Americans who want a full-time job cannot find one.
Amazingly, instead of working with America’s small businesses and the Republican-led House to find real solutions, Senator Harry Reid and President Obama have decided their ‘jobs policy’ right now is another ‘emergency’ extension of federally-funded unemployment benefits. Rest assured, I will not give up on America’s hard workers, or their employers. It is time to roll back the onerous regulations and out-of-control red tape coming out of Washington, particularly related to ObamaCare. If that happens, we can turn around our nation’s economy and get America back to work again.”
