KFIX Rock News: Scorpions, U2, Stevie Nicks, Others Appear On DVD Featuring Highlights Of ’83 US Festival

us-festivalA new concert video featuring footage from the star-studded 1983 edition of the US Festival is available for purchase now as a digital download, and will be released on DVD on December 3.

US Festival 1983: Days 1-3 contains performances from U2, The Clash, Stevie Nicks and a variety of other popular rock, new wave and heavy metal acts.

The festival, which took place in San Bernardino, California, during Memorial Day weekend in ’83, was the second of two musical extravaganzas sponsored and financed by Apple Computer co-founder Steve Wozniak.

Among the other groups included on the lineup were The Scorpions, Judas Priest, Triumph, The Stray Cats, Men at Work, INXS and The English Beat.  More than 670,000 people were estimated to have attended the three-day fest.

Among the many highlights featured in the video are live renditions of U2′s “Sunday Bloody Sunday,” The Clash’s “Should I Stay or Should I Go,” Nicks’ “Stand Back” and Judas Priest’s “You’ve Got Another Thing Comin’.”

A full clip of U2′s “Sunday Bloody Sunday” performance can be viewed now exclusively at RollingStone.com.  Incidentally, The Clash’s ’83 US Festival appearance marked the final time founding Clash guitarist/singer Mick Jones performed with the band.

The digital version of US Festival 1983: Days 1-3 is available for $9.99 at iTunes, while the DVD lists at $19.95.
