The Fort Hays State University men’s basketball team played their third consecutive game on the road to open up the season. The Tigers win 79-55 over Northwestern Panhandle State University in Alva, Oklahoma on Saturday night.
Dwayne Brunson had a double-double in the first half with 15 points and 10 rebounds, while Carson Kondrade made four three pointers in the first half scoring 12. The Tigers built their lead to ten in the first half before 10-4 run by the Ranger made it 35-31. FHSU settled for a 41-33 half time lead hitting 7 of 12 threes.

But it was the second half that the Tigers buckled down. An 11-2 run put the FHSU up 52-35 and the game was never close again. FHSU grabs the win 79-55…out scoring the Rangers 38-22 in the second half.
It was a near career night for Brunson who scored 33 points and grabbed 14 rebound, two points and one rebound shy of his career high. Kondrade added 13 and Nicholson scored 11 in the win.
The Tigers shoot 52% and make 8 of 19 beyond the arc. The Tiger defense held the Rangers to 34% and just 5 of 23 beyond the arc.
The Tigers are at home on Tuesday and will play Newman at 7:30pm.
