KFIX Rock News: “Yellow Submarine” Art To Be Auctioned

beatlessubinLOS ANGELES (AP) – More than 50 pieces of production art from the Beatles movie “Yellow Submarine” will be auctioned off.

One of the most notable pieces is a hand-painted color model cel featuring the animated versions of all four Beatles, with color instructions and information on where Ringo Starr’s rings should go.

It’s expected to sell for about $12,000.

Other artwork shows The Beatles in different situations, the Pepperland band, the Blue Meanies, and a cel with dozens of versions of the Yellow Submarine itself.

The auction also includes cels from a proposed 1970 TV cartoon involving The Beach Boys and four animated cels from “Pink Floyd: The Wall.”

The auction will be November 20 in Beverly Hills, California.
