KFIX Rock News: Eddie Van Halen’s Frankenstrat, Jim Morrison’s Notebook For Sale

VH.EVH 1982 Kramer.auction.12-13NEW YORK (AP) – The Frankenstrat guitar Eddie Van Halen used on the “1984″ album is for sale.

The 1982 Kramer red guitar with white and black stripes is expected to sell for $100,000 to $150,000, according to the Profiles in History auction house.

Part of the proceeds will benefit guitarist Jason Becker, who has Lou Gehrig’s disease.

A notebook of unpublished poems and other thoughts written by Jim Morrison in the year before he died is for sale as well.

The handwritten lyrics to “Riders on the Storm” by The Doors and “I Want You” by Bob Dylan will be auctioned, as will the MTV Video Music Award given at the first VMAs to Michael Jackson for the choreography for “Thriller.”

The auction will be December 18 outside Los Angeles.
