FHSU’s Terry Named MIAA Defensive Player of the Week
Fort Hays State junior linebacker Michael Terry was named the MIAA Football Defensive Athlete of the Week on Mondayfor his efforts in the 56-14 win over Southwest Baptist this past Saturday. Terry helped the Tigers move to 3-4 overall on the season and extend their win streak to three games.
Terry had a career-high 16 tackles for the Tigers and a 94-yard fumble return that set up a touchdown for the Tigers. With the score 21-7 in favor of FHSU early in the third quarter, Terry scooped a fumble by SBU in the endzone and nearly returned it the length of the field for a touchdown, but was tripped up just six yards short. It came at the end of a goal-line stand by FHSU, which held SBU out of the endzone for three straight plays with the ball on the 1-yardline. His return set up a touchdown that pushed the FHSU lead to 28-7. Terry had nine of his 16 tackles by halftime, helping hold SBU to just 124 yards of total offense in the opening half.
