KFIX Rock News: Paul McCartney Agrees To Play Small U.K. Pub For Chairty

paulyokmainPaul McCartney generally performs in large arenas and stadiums around the world, but he’s now promised to play an intimate gig at a pub in the London suburb of Chiddingfold if a British radio personality can raise enough money for a U.K. children’s charity.

Chris Evans, a morning DJ on BBC Radio 2, asked the Beatles legend during a phone interview Wednesday if he would give a 45-minute concert at his pub The Mulberry Inn on June 28, 2014, if Evans could raise 1 million pounds for the Children in Need charity.

“If I’m available, yeah, I will,” said McCartney, sounding only a little hesitant.  Evans previously had gotten Gary Barlow of the popular U.K. boy band Take That to play a similarly intimate charity show at the pub earlier in 2013.

Meanwhile, Sir Paul will be visiting a newly reopened HMV store in London on Friday to sign copies of his latest album, NEW.  Admission to the event, which takes place at 3 p.m. local time, will be on a first come, first served basis.
