According to Ellis County Sheriff Ed Harbin, the Ellis County Sheriff’s Department responded to a farm accident that left one person injured Thursday evening.  The accident happened on private property at the 600 block of 300th avenue around 5:30pm.

Jay Barker was backing a horse trailer up to a shed to unload some hay bales.  His wife, Kay Philip, was guiding her husband back while holding the trailer door open.  As he got near the shed, Barker lost sight of his wife.  Believing she was coming around to the driver’s side window to continue guiding him, Barker continued to slowly back up.  He continued backing up until he wasn’t able to move any further.

Philip was flown via Eagle Med to Hays Medical Center for treatment.
