Two Arrested after Armed Robbery in Western Kansas
Two suspects are in custody after an armed robbery in Colby, KS. According to the Colby Police Department (CPD), Officers responded to Quality Inn of Colby in reference to an armed robbery at approximately 11:15 pm on Sunday, October 13th.
While investigating the report, officers became suspicious of a vehicle in the area. The officers conducted an investigative stop with the vehicle on I-70. One of the subjects was placed under arrest. The second person fled from officers on foot, running into a milo field north of I-70. Officers searched the area and after several hours temporarily called off the search.
At approximately 10:30 am Monday morning, officers took the second suspect into custody after finding him in rural Thomas County just a few miles from where he was last seen. Both men are being held on charges unrelated to the burglary pending further investigation.
An initial press release from CPD requesting assistance in locating the suspect who fled on foot identified that suspect as 19 year old Shawn Gill. CPD Chief Ron Alexander told Hays Post that until formal charges are filed, the identity of the suspects won’t be confirmed.
