Fort Hays State men’s soccer leaped back into the NSCAA Division II Top 25 Poll on Tuesday (Sept. 24). The Tigers are No. 21 in the latest poll after a two-week absence. The Tigers were ranked No. 23 in the pre-season poll to start the year.
After dropping the first match of the season at Texas-Permian Basin, the Tigers have reeled off five straight wins to sit at 5-1 overall. The Tigers still received votes during their two-week absence from the top 25, a stretch in which they went 4-0.
The Tigers return to the road for their next four matches and put the ranking to the test on Thursday against the team they met in the NCAA Super Regional Semifinal last year – Northeastern State. The Riverhawks are ranked No. 6 in the latest poll and have yet to drop a match this season at 3-0-1. All four matches in the road swing are conference matches. The Tigers also visit Lindenwood, currently No. 10 in the poll and also undefeated at 6-0, a week after visiting NSU. Matches at Harding and Southwest Baptist are also in the road stretch.
FHSU, Northeastern State and Lindenwood are the three schools representing the MIAA in the national poll.
