UPDATE: Teen Dies from injuries in head on crash
1:40 p.m. A Rooks County teenager was killed in a head on crash early Tuesday morning. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Acetin M. Benedick was killed when the pickup he was driving hit another truck on K18 highway, 3 miles west of Plainville.
Benedick was driving a 1989 Isuzu pickup east bound on K-18. The truck crossed the center line and went into the north ditch. He over corrected and struck a 2002 International truck head on.
The Isuzu came to rest facing east in the south ditch. The International truck, driven by Kelly G. Shearer, age 47 of Almena, came to rest facing west in the south ditch.
Benedick was transported to Rooks County Health Center and flown to a hospital in Wichita.
Shearer and a passenger in the International, Ricci L. Gutzman, 56 of Bennington, were transported to Rooks County Health Center. Gutzman was the only one not wearing a seat belt.
11:35 a.m. Traffic has been diverted all morning along K 18 west of Plainville following an early morning two vehicle accident. Stay tuned to Eagle Radio and Hays Post for more information as it becomes available.
8:05 a.m. An investigation of the Tuesday morning injury accident on K 18 west of Plainville continues.

6:11 a.m. A teenager is among the most seriously injured in this morning’s accident. He has been transported to the Rooks County Health Center.
5:48 a.m. Law enforcement has request an emergency medical helicopter.
5: 35 a.m. Law enforcement and emergency medical responders have been dispatched to report of an injury accident on K-18 between Plainville and Zurich, near 14 Road.
The accident involves two vehicles including a mail truck and there are injuries.
