Hays Eagles Drop Game at Regional

American Legion BaseballThe Hays Eagles American Legion dropped their opening game at the Mid-South Regional in North Little Rock Arkansas Thursday morning 6-2 to Tupelo Mississippi.

Tupelo opened the scoring with two runs on two hits in the top half of the third inning. Hays answered right back with two of their own. The Eagles loaded the bases and scored two on a fielder’s choice by Hayden Hutchison to tie the game at 2.

In the top of the 5th Tupelo scored two more in the fifth after loading the bases fifth and two more in the ninth to take a 6-2 lead.

Hays loaded the bases with two outs in the ninth but left them loaded to end the inning. Lane Downing finished 2-for-4 and Clayton Basgall was 2-for-5.

Kade Parker suffered the loss for Hays. He allowed 6 runs, 3 earned in 8 2/3 innings.

Hays will now take on Columbia Tennessee at 9:30 Friday morning.

Tennessee lost to Midwest Oklahoma 5-4 on Thursday.
