Brandon Bollig allowed just four hits and struck-out six in a complete game performance to lead the Ellis American Legion to a first round win over Rock Creek, Wednesday at the AA State Tournament in Pratt.
Bollig reached base on an infield single in the first inning, advanced to second on a passed ball and came around to score on an RBI single by Cadyn McCoy putting Ellis up 1-0 and that was all they would need.
The defense was solid behind Bollig, turning a double play in both the third and fourth innings.
Cadyn McCoy finished 1-for-3 with an RBI and Brandon Bollig was 2-for-3 with a run scored. As a team Ellis was just 3-for-20 at the plate.
With the win Ellis is now 20-7 and they will take on Sabetha at 8:30 Thursday night in Pratt. Sabetha was an 11-2 winner over Pratt on Wednesday night.
Concordia and Iola play in the other winners bracket game Thursday night.
