KFIX Rock News: Eric Clapton Crossroads Documentary Film Hits Theaters In August
If you missed the 2013 edition of Eric Clapton’s star-studded Crossroads Guitar Festival or want to relive the musical extravaganza, here’s some exciting news.
A two-and-a-half-hour film featuring highlights from the two-day event will be screened for one night only at hundreds of theaters around the U.S. on August 13.
The fest was held on April 12 and 13 at New York City’s Madison Square Garden and featured headlining sets by Clapton and The Allman Brothers Band, as well as performances by B.B. King, Jeff Beck, Los Lobos, Booker T. Jones, Buddy Guy, Robert Cray, Jimmy Vaughan and Taj Mahal, among many others.
If that’s not enough, The Rolling Stones’ Keith Richards made a surprise appearance at the festival’s second night.
The film also will include behind-the-scenes footage of the various artists at the event. Tickets for the screenings can be purchased online at FathomEvents.com. The movie will be shown at 7:30 p.m. local time.
Clapton also recently announced that a DVD of the 2013 Crossroads Guitar Festival is being prepared for release.
The fest, which has taken place every three years since 2004, raises money for the Crossroads Centre rehab facility the guitar legend established on the island of Antigua.
