looks like donnie felt the heat of uncle thomas and had a crackdown on water violations

If you are referring to the Chief of Police or the officers I don’t believe it has a thing to do with them. Enforcement and level of importance comes from the top…the city manager who acts like a marionette to the commission. If the department heads could run their departments the way they should they most likely would not have a job.
Was it not a few years ago we had commissioners who suggested Hays should be a friendlier community when it came time to Oktoberfest, WestFest, etc? They of course would not come out and state to limit the DUI’s, but they sure did suggest it in private circles.

This is only the beginning of where we need to be on water enforcement! I can pedal my bike around town for only two hours between 5:00a & 7:00a and locate more violations in one day then the HPD has cited in three days! I will give the city a D+ for their enforcement efforts. I would predict the Country Club, Fort Hays, HaysMed, NCK Vo-Tech, City of Hays, Both High Schools are exempt due to special permits being issued by the state or non-verbal professional courtesy to be cited.
Have you noticed with such an important issue no one from the city has addressed on a weekly basis…employee or elected official. Typically elected officials stand in line to give the media their two cents for free media coverage on topics which relate to nothing. Now we have an issue of importance and it is as if they are all wearing camouflage and sneaking in and out the back door at city hall.
The city commission wouldn’t say do-do if they had a mouth full right now. Well folks if we put our heads in the sand it is not going to go away.

Completely agree with you. Why is it when we are in such a water shortage that the new bank thinks they need to put down sod in July?!
