KFIX Rock News: Surviving Doors Members Confirm Reunion
Thus far, only one show is certain, but more could follow.
“We’re going to do at least one show for Ray and have a big send-off,” Krieger recently told Rolling Stone.
“That’s either the start or the end of it, I don’t know.”
Krieger and Densmore have settled their decade-long legal battles stemming from Krieger and Manzarek began touring in 2002 as the “Doors Of The 21st Century”.
The Krieger/Manzarek trek led to a lawsuit over the use of the Doors name, as well as a $40 million countersuit against Densmore for his refusal to sign off on multi-million-dollar licensing of the band’s music for commercials.
Said Krieger, “That’s what you do; if someone sues you, you sue them twice as hard back and hope they drop the suit.”
“It was a very stupid idea. We had the worst lawyers.”
Manzarek passed away in May after a cancer battle. He was 74.
A date for the tribute show hasn’t been confirmed.
