KFIX Rock News: Rare Pink Floyd Single Sells For Over $3,000

pfA rare 1983 Pink Floyd single has sold on eBay for just over three grand.

A Japanese 7-inch promotional single of “Not Now John”, the only single issued from the band’s “The Final Cut” album, has sold for $3,050.

“TOP PINK FLOYD RARITY, NOT NOW JOHN b/w YOUR POSSIBLE PAST JAPAN WHITE LABEL PROMO / PROMOTIONAL 7″ SINGLE” reads the description on the auction site.

“PLEASE E-MAIL WITH ANY QUESTIONS.  PACKAGE WILL BE SHIPPED REGISTERED MAIL TO OVERSEA BUYER.  THAT IS THE REASON FOR THE HIGH POSTAL COST.”

The song is the only track on the album featuring lead vocals by David Gilmour.

The Roger Waters penned tune deals with war and criticism of British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, as well as general criticisms of the greed and corruption that Waters saw as dangers to society.
