KFIX Rock News: “Buckingham Nicks” Reissue, Concerts Could Follow Current Fleetwood Mac Tour

nicksbuckFleetwood Mac’s current tour will keep the group on the road at least until early December, but Lindsey Buckingham says he and band mate Stevie Nicks have been discussing another musical endeavor they may turn their attentions to after the trek ends.

The singer/guitarist tells the Los Angeles Times that he and Nicks are finally considering rereleasing the long-out-of-printBuckingham Nicks album, the 1973 collection they recorded as a duo prior to joining Fleetwood Mac.

Lindsey explains, however, that no decision has been made yet exactly how the album, which arrived 40 years ago this September, will be packaged and promoted.

“I think it really comes down to what we want to do with [the CD] format,” he notes.  “Do we want to just release it and that’s it?  Do we want to add some bonus tracks?  What level of involvement do we take it to?”

Buckingham says if it were completely up to him, he would add “a couple of bonus tracks” to the disc and support it by playing some concerts.

Late last year, Nicks told Rolling Stone she’d also like to see an expanded Buckingham Nicks reissue.  In addition, she suggested that she and Lindsey could play some shows with the same session musicians that were featured on the record.

“These are dialogues we’ve had, but only in the hypothetical,” Buckingham points out.  “We have not come to any decisions about what we want to do.”

As previously reported, “Without You,” one of the new tracks included on Fleetwood Mac’s recent Extended Play digital EP, is a rerecorded version of a song that dates back to around the time of Buckingham Nicks.

The North American leg of Fleetwood Mac’s trek wraps up this Saturday in Sacramento, California.  The band has confirmed international dates scheduled through a December 7 show in Auckland, New Zealand.
