KFIX Rock News: The Kinks’ Ray Davies, The Clash To Be Presented Silver Clef Awards
The Kinks’ Ray Davies and The Clash are among the music legends who will be honored at the 2013 O2 Silver Clef Awards, which will take place June 28 in London. The awards are handed out annually by U.K.
charity Nordoff Robbins, an organization that provides music therapy to ill and disabled people.
Davies will be presented the Ambassador of Rock Award, while The Clash will receive the prestigious O2 Silver Clef Award for the band’s career contributions to the U.K. music industry.
“Thank you Nordoff Robbins — to be named your…Ambassador of Rock is fantastic,” The Kinks frontman says in a statement. “The work you do is amazing, and this is a real honor.”
Clash guitarist Mick Jones also praises the organization, saying, “Nordoff Robbins do great work, and it feels special to be recognized at the O2 Silver Clef Awards.”
Among the other artists who be feted at the Silver Clef Awards are surviving Bee Gees singer Barry Gibb, Coldplay, Yaz frontwoman Alison Moyet and alternative rockers Vampire Weekend.
