KFIX Rock News: Black Sabbath Scores First #1 Album On Billboard Chart

sablogo2LOS ANGELES (AP) – It’s hard to believe Black Sabbath have never had a number-one album in the U.S., but they’ve finally achieved that.

Their “13″ album has sold 155,000 copies and is on top of the Billboard 200 chart.

It’s also only the second top-10 album Black Sabbath have ever had. “Master of Reality” peaked at number 8 in 1971.

Guitarist Tony Iommi says the news is “amazing” and they didn’t imagine it would happen.

It took 43 years for Black Sabbath to hit number one, but that’s not the record.

Tony Bennett took 54 years to get his first number-one album, “Duets 2″ in 2011.
