just wait a while someone will put them on Ebay or Nextech. Criminals have never been accused of being very smart.

  • Uncle Thomas

USD 489 does not have in place something as easy as motion detectors of cctv cameras to protect the communities assets?

    • HHS Grad

There are security cameras in every hallway and quite a few outside of the building facing the doorways. At least there were when I graduated in 2011. Perhaps they sold them to pay for the new sports complex.

  • Uncle Thomas

I forgot this would take a special committee to study the issue and make a recommendation. Good Lord when will we have competent persons in charge of our tax dollars?

    • Kansas Native

Hey Uncle, Why don’t you learn the facts? Video, according to what I hear, was already turned over to the HPD. Why don’t you step up bud?

      • Uncle Thomas

I know it was…that is inside information. The quality of the video was not the best due to the districts out dated equipment.

        • GHJ

technically you are correct, however the school has cameras all over and the machine was recording, the person(s) hid their face so they knew where the cameras were, the best equipment would not have done any better and just how much tax payer money should we spend on equipment that no matter how advanced would not have made a difference?

          • Uncle Thomas

Read my post…motion detectors are one of the cheapest devices available. CCTV cameras when installed discretely do make a difference. I have purchased and contracted the installation of these systems…this is not rocket science.

    • Kansas Native

Mr Know it All, I mean Uncle Tom,
You are a piece of work.

      • Uncle Thomas

Why thank you… rather then sitting on my can, I pursued an education and multiple careers, traveled, gained experience,… Unlike most of you who have yet to leave the county.

        • Uncle Thomas

I apologize…should have said cowndy so you could understand.

  • Aunt Thelma

Uncle Thomas, you are the perfect candidate for the school board, city commission, and county commission. Heck you should run for President. It seems as though you know how to run, operate, and do EVERYTHING better than the people mentioned in any Hays Post article. You are the eptiomy of perfection. Where have you been hiding? Our schools, our city, our county and our country NEED YOU running for these positions. Please do us all a favor and run, we need all-knowing people like you in there.

    • Uncle Thomas

Why…Aunt Thelma thank you, but will need to decline. I have already served my country, volunteered for the city, briefly worked for the county while at FHSU and have volunteered for USD 489. I will now set back and aggravate mere mortals like yourself.

      • Ryan

Tommy court ordered community service is not really volunteering.

        • Uncle Thomas

          Shhh….

    • Uncle Thomas

Yes AUNT THELMA and I can even spell epitome :)

The problem is I received my education worked for a variety of entities lived in large cities, lived in other countries and what is obvious to most with a high school education is not obvious to most Haysians.

      • Haysian

I went to college. Graduated with multiple degrees. I’ve traveled abroad. I’ve worked for government entities. As well as other corporations. Doesn’t take much to see, though, that you’re just a miserable dick with an overly inflated sense of self.

        • Uncle Thomas

I hear a bit of resentment…you must have graduated from FHSU. Why would anything I have to say irritate you to the point of cursing. Have I personally insulted you?

          • Kansas Native

Uncle, Honestly, I think many people get tired of your “I know better than any of these local Great American Desert Hicks.” If you’re so disgusted with this area, our local government, schools, volunteers, university, etc., this is a free country… go! Have a good day Uncle.

          • haysian

I’m not cursing, it’s just the only word that would fit. you have insulted lord knows how many people on here with your high and mighty never wrong comments. if you were really as far above us as you like to think, you wouldn’t waste your time. if this is your idea of fun, you must lead a sad, sad little life.

          • Uncle Thomas

I have lured you in to conversation and you have chose one of my words to identify yourself. I think deep down you look up to me.

      • Aunt Thelma

Oh no, you got me on a spelling mistake! You must be educated! Should we include ‘perfect speller’ to your resume, as well? Is it possible that during your multiple career switches you forgot what commas were? Annnnnd you lived in large cities??? Ohhhh my…I had no idea that I was up against a big time city boy who has traveled abroad. I never would have responded to your post had I known that.

By the way I, too, enjoy aggravating! It seems as though I got under your skin a bit considering that 2+ hours later you are replying, again, to my original post and correcting my spelling mistake. For a person with the background you have, being a non-FHSU graduate and one who seems to know better than the rest, I would have expected you to be less defensive and more driven.

In closing, you might find it more beneficial to your health to actually “do” instead of just complain, anonymously, behind a computer. But then again, degrading others and complaining about everything behind a computer, is probably a lot easier! I know your kind! FYI…us mere mortals don’t take people like you seriously. It’s the doers, not the sayers, that are looked up to and make a difference in this world (even when they are wrong or make mistakes). The complainers don’t get to take credit for anything. Oh I take that back. You do get to claim having the “most posts” on a Hays website! Congrats! Add that to your resume as well, Uncle Thomas.

        • Uncle Thomas

          AUNT THELMA…I LOVE YOU!

Boyz I believe Aunt Thelma proposed to me! I would imagine her heart rate jumped a few beats writing that kind proposal. Auntie Thelm I am going to have to say NO! My guess is your BMI is out of line and would be attractive as your voluminous diatribe, but thank you I am flattered :)!

      • :)

You’re missing quite a bit of punctuation in this post. Quite the run-on sentence you have there.

        • Uncle Thomas

Please don’t critique Auntie Thelm… she is on my side.

  • Uncle Thomas

Who said I live in Hays or Ellis Cowndy? The internet reaches outside the cowndy KANSAS NATIVE! I enjoy playing with you folk. I most subjects y’all attack me and lose track of the actual topic. So easy to distract your simple minds.

    • haysian

HA!! i don’t look up to you. delusions of grandeur. real psychological disorder. you should have yourself checked out.

  • inkslinger

people are jealous of you uncle Thomas, haters are just jealous but don’t or cant admit it but dont take my word for it, just read the comments of hate twords you, heck if you were president you could have these people arrested under the patriot act for being haters

    UNCLE THOMAS FOR PRESIDENT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    go get them ole man
    it makes for great entertainment

    • Uncle Thomas

Thanks INK…! Thanks for understanding this is only a bit of fun. I believe they have all forgotten the local high school was burglarized.

  • Awesome

Buglarized? When did that happen? Who dunnit?

    • Uncle Thomas

Awesome…dat would be the 1,00,000 dollar question. It seems with the CCTV system the district has we don’t know. I am sure the system was upgraded within the past 25 years :) probably even had dummy cameras, hidden cameras, multiple angle cameras for the high risk areas, motion sensors,…NOT.

      • Anonymous

You have no idea what you are talking about. Hays High has 30+ cameras in the building. The cameras are not the latest and greatest, but if they showed their face it would have a decent picture. Just as good as some of the security footage released from Boston bombing or videos of crimes have been posted on Hays Post. Remember HHS administrators use these all the time to review student incidents.

        • Uncle Thomas

Okay…30+ cctv cameras for a facility that size is a joke! Yes the admin uses for student issues…duh smart one most of those are with the lights on. Different story when you are running and old IR with only emergency lights on at night. You don’t understand the variables when installing and utilizing cameras. Again, I have personally been involved with every detail of the design, purchase and implementation…I love talking to walls.

  • Jordan Schaeffer

hey lets all get on Hays post and throw jabs at each other.. wow

    • inkslinger

didnt you work for some newspaper, i liked your work :0

  • Awesome

I am sure someone will brag about it and word will get out then justice will be served!
