Its Free to students but it does cost Taxpayers so its not exactly accurate to say the lunch is Free. Its should say the Lunch is provided at no cost to students but at a significant cost to taxpayers. It stinks kids have to go hungry in this day and age :(

    • Reality Check

It’s entirely dependent on your income, you do have to fill out the packet that is the same as the one for free and reduced lunches in the fall. I checked the link, you need to leave off the http:\\ There are a lot of people that don’t apply for food stamps that do apply for this.

    • Uncle Thomas

Once again the imposter strikes again…! Can not be original or creative so “Uncle Thomas” pretends to be me the original… obviously must be an under achiever whose mommy breast fed for too long and continues to have sexual frustrations.

  • Blind r

Agree. I find it hard to believe that after entitlement programs I.e. food stamps that this program is necessary. Maybe it is but I also note the bottom of the poster also includes our “second language”???

  • Beef Fritters

Beef Fritters $3.50 for Adults sounds like a good deal to me.

  • Uncle Thomas

My concern on these programs is there is often a large percentage that don’t need them, but take advantage of them. Somewhat like these HeadStart programs…the parents show up in new cars, tattoos all over, the latest cell phones, pick the kids up drop them off because they are not working and we the tax payer flips the bill.

    • dear, dear uncle T.

You are ALWAYS complaining about programs for disadvantaged. ALWAYS. Tell you what, when I was in the ARMY, Yes Uncle T. the U.S. Army, in texas I still qualified for WIC milk and cheese. Do you understand it costs more to live these days than most people earn. When I qualified for WIC I also had a new car, not brand new but new to me. This was thanks to my parents, I ultimatly had to pay them back of course but without there help life would have been difficult then. Besides I’d rather give food to 10 people who don’t need it than see one kid go hungry. Get off your “everyone is getting entitlements” kick. Your a benefactor of entitlements to wether you know it or not so quick your constant complaining.

      • Blind r

A bit of crying in your beer mixed with idealism. I’d rather give 10…. Is a bunch of bull. I suppose you also complain of the 1% also. It’s still a program we cannot afford.

        • haha…

yes I do complain about the 1%. Giving large tax breaks to the 1% is ridiculous. Yes tax breaks on them and their corps will create jobs; in china, taiwan and india. I guess those tax breaks will help automate their factories and tele systems as well and eliminate more jobs. Perfect example is the toll roads in colorado now. No longer manned but liscense plates are photographed and bills sent, no more change attendants. Educate yourself on how these people and corps work. They care nothing for their blue OR WHITE collar workers.

        • haha…

and i wasn’t crying. I was making a simple point that was obviously lost above your little head. Have you ever seen a starving person? I have. I’ve been to places where people truly are suffering and I don’t mean east side St. Louis suffering. I mean down and dirty places in other parts of the world. Even the most deprived parts of the U.S. are 100x better than those of the most deprived around the world. All you ignorant MF’s on this who post big tuff talk about we “cannot afford” to feed kids really need a reality check. I’d love to see you on TV telling people we can’t afford to feed kids. I bet that would go over well with the masses.

      • passin threw

i’m guessing the fact that you’re about as educated as a land turtle might have something to do with the reason your parents had to support your sorry butt…..

        • haha…

I have two degrees a B.S.(from fort hays) and a AASET(from AIMS college in greeley CO) and retired from the US Army after 18 years. Give me your resume. I guess you can’t read because I explained above I was in the Army at the time attending one of their highest attrition rate schools at Sheppard AFB in Wichita Falls Texas. In OTHER WORDS the government didn’t even pay me enough. Look it up. Although the school is now located at Ft. Sam in San Antonio. Give me your resume mr. highly educated.

          • passin threw

you hide it well, with your broken english. perhaps uncle sam taught you to do that while paying you peanuts so you could whine about not being paid enough…..most underachievers take your path in life so don’t feel bad about it….stanford 2000 here, i don’t have to fluff up any other accomplishments

          • haha…

Are you saying the U.S. Army is all underachievers? That all college grads are underachievers? I believe you forgot to take debate in school. Stanford might want to rethink your degree award. What was your thesis? How to get through college with mental incompetence? Or did you just use your mom and dad’s money to get through?

        • haha…

Give me some then. I’m betting the only thing you can fluff is poornstar cack.

          • passin threw

do you talk to your husband with that mouth? my guess is he left you….probably because your spelling is so God awful

          • haha…

and being a Stanford grad I guess you wouldn’t understand how people suffer then anyway so but out the conversation. My english is broken? I don’t use … dot, dot, dot…….. I use punctuation, although I will admit it’s not always accurate. Stanford my butt.

          • haha…

it’s not submitted if you spell it correctly. dumb BUTT. If I said a** there it would be omitted. I’m a man btw. Guarantee i’ve done more “man” things in my 38 years than you ever will.

          • passin threw

            i don’t believe i ever said i thought you were a woman

    • too much corporate power

Head Start is also open to young children with significant disabilities, no matter their parents’ income. Early intervention is much much less costly than trying to fix things later on.

I hope and pray you never have a child who needs these kinds of services.

  • Perspective

You know, In other countries this isn’t even an issue. Neither is gun control, abortion, gay marriage or stem cell research, I was a kid who got reduced lunches when I was in school. Was I proud of it? No. Were both my parents hard working people? Yes. That dollar or two a day that the government so wrongly subsidized me was huge. Everyone is waving this enormous flag saying entitlements are wrong, that its unAmerican. They are not wrong. Maybe poorly managed, but not wrong. Lay off the kid who pays a buck less than anyone else, he/she could very well be the next Einstein or Zuckerberg

    • http://hayspost.com ????

What counties are you talking about? Iran, North Korea, or Syria? Its not a issue because they are not a free country.

    • Hays

Dear “Perspective”, I appreciate hearing from someone who has benefited from the free/reduced lunches offered by our schools. I was lucky enough as a child not to have been in that position, and have been lucky enough as an adult to thus far keep my children from having to participate either. However, I am intelligent enough to know that all it takes is one unforeseen circumstance to rip the rug right out from under my feet. I plan every day for the worst, and work my hardest to achieve the best. Doing anything else in this day and age is setting oneself up for failure. I am proud to contribute my tax dollars to the children who need these lunches (and the backpacks full of supplies and state aid for those who qualify). I am not financially wealthy by any stretch of the imagination, but I feel it is my obligation as a friend, neighbor and citizen of this amazing country to help take care of fellow mankind. I fully understand that some of those who benefit from the gifts I give fully use and abuse the system. I also know for certain that many others do not, and I will not let the bad overshadow the good. People deserve better. These children deserve better. They should not be punished for something completely out of their control. What goes around truly does come around in the end. Peace and best wishes, my friend. I hope the days are treating you better now.

  • Uncle Thomas

I love to spark average diatribe…look at the wolves nip at each other over nothing :)!
Thank you HaysPost for giving me a place to tease the boys.

How about the people that swipe their Vision card at a convenience store, whip out cash to buy scratch tickets, or to play the power ball, with a $150 watch, $3,000 rings, and get into a 2010 SUV. Wait hold on, now i get it, now i know how they can afford these things, they don’t spend their money on the food that their family needs, and why should they especially when the government gives them, food, and sometimes cash assistance. ITS THE AMERICAN WAY now a days.

    • Uncle Thomas

Ink…lets not be so negative! You will cause the cry babies to come out.
      :)

Did you know that the psychology behind trolling suggest that you might benefit from counseling for you need to manipulate and see yourself as “powerful” by doing so? You might check it out sometime.

I am having trouble with my typing today. *suggests and *your (two times) were not spelled correctly as I did not apply enough pressure to the keys. My apologies.

did I miss something but the term “trolling” is used as a fishing term, so does that mean I need to go see a shrink because i like to drag a lure behind my boat at a slow speed to catch fish ?? I don’t get it !!! or maybe people should just leave good words alone, and quit trying to psychoanalyze people just because you think that your a “internet psychiatrist” since you read Yahoo news.
