KFIX Rock News: Aerosmith’s Hamilton Forced To Leave Tour

haminAccording to a news report, Aerosmith bassist Tom Hamilton has dropped off the band’s current Australian tour after contracting a chest infection.

The band have brought in David Hull, who plays in guitarist Joe Perry’s solo band–and previously stood in during past Aerosmith shows while Hamilton recovered from throat cancer–to fill in.

Aerosmith are due to appear in Manila on May 8th and Jakarta three days later.  Then they’ll take a two-month break.

It’s unclear at this time if Hamilton will play those shows.

Last year Hamilton declared he was cancer free.  “I’m feeling really good,” he said, adding, “The doctor who treated me in 2009 said, ‘Listen, I can help you in a way that is going to preserve your way of life.’  I go in there about every two to three months.”

“I get looked at by having the doctor put a scope down my throat. It’s a nerve-wracking process, but I don’t have to worry about it for a couple of months and I’m feeling great.”
