KFIX Rock News: Metallica Going To IMAX With New Film

hetfieldThey’ve already had an impact on music – but now Metallica is making a little movie history, too. The band’s new film be the first movie to make its debut only in the IMAX format.

The 3D film, “Metallica Through the Never” on every IMAX screen in North America for a week starting September 27th.

The film mixes concert footage with a dramatic narrative and computer-generated images will hit IMAX a week before it hits regular theaters.

Drummer Lars Ulrich says having the film debut on IMAX is “very exciting” and “a bit of a confidence booster.”

He notes they are musicians, not filmmakers and for IMAX to let the film debut on their huge screens “is super cool.”

Kansas IMAX theaters are located in Leawood, Olathe, Wichita, and the Kansas Cosmosphere in Hutchinson.
