The FHSU Teacher Education Program will be sponsoring a Sibshop event on May 4th, from 10:00 to 12:30 PM at the Strenberg Museum of Natural History, Expeditions Room. There is no cost to participants for the event.
Sibshops is a nationally acclaimed program that provides peer support within a recreational environment. It’s designed to celebrate the many contributions made by brothers and sisters of kids with special needs.
Each Sibshop encourages kids to participate in site based activities that encourage sharing, laughter and fun! Kids will have a chance to meet other kids whose brothers and sisters have special needs and talk about the good and not-so-good parts of having a sibling with a disability or a medical condition.
Sibshops are for siblings of kids with developmental, health or mental health concerns or serious illnesses. The Hays Sibshop is open to kids around 6 to 8 years of age.
The Hays Sibshop is sponsored by the Fort Hays State University Teacher Education Program. The program is made possible with a United Way of Ellis County Community Impact Grant.
