HIGH IMPACT WINTER STORM EXPECTED THIS WEEKEND...

A SIGNIFICANT STORM WILL DEVELOP AND MATURE OVER THE ROCKIES
FRIDAY NIGHT. SNOW AND RAIN WILL DEVELOP FRIDAY NIGHT ACROSS FAR
WESTERN AND SOUTHWESTERN KANSAS. THE ATMOSPHERE WILL COOL LATE
FRIDAY NIGHT INTO THE DAY SATURDAY TO THE POINT THAT MOST OF THE
PRECIPITATION ACROSS WEST CENTRAL SOUTHWEST KANSAS IS EXPECTED TO
BE SNOW.

LATE IN THE DAY SATURDAY...NORTH TO NORTHEAST WINDS WILL INCREASE
AS SNOWFALL RATES ARE EXPECTED TO INCREASE. NORTH WINDS ARE
EXPECTED TO BE STRONGEST SATURDAY NIGHT...AND AS TEMPERATURES FALL
INTO THE MID TO UPPER 20S...BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW MAY BECOME A
SIGNIFICANT HAZARD WITH VISIBILITY FREQUENTLY BELOW ONE HALF MILE.

A FAIRLY LARGE AREA OF SIX INCHES OR MORE OF SNOWFALL CAN BE
EXPECTED WITH THIS STORM. IT IS STILL TOO EARLY TO DETERMINE WHICH
AREAS ACROSS WEST CENTRAL AND SOUTHWEST KANSAS WILL SEE THE
HIGHEST SNOWFALL TOTALS...SO PLEASE CHECK BACK FOR THE LATEST
FORECAST THINKING REGARDING THIS WINTER STORM.
