May Cost More to Hold Tournaments at Fort Hays Course

golf-ball1The Fort Hays Municipal Golf Course Advisory Committee has endorsed increasing tournament fees.

The group and Parks Director Jeff Boyle say marshals are needed during tournaments and other high usage times to keep play moving and enforce the course rules. The proposal was made last week to the city commission, and Commissioner Ron Mellick says improvements to the course need to be protected.

The proposal would increase fees $50 for a nine hole tournament and $100 for an 18 hole tournament.

Also under consideration is lower greens fees for juniors to encourage golfers who are 17 and under to play.

The commission will consider both at this week’s meeting.

That and a lot of courses use volunteer marshalls in exchange for free golf and it seems to work well……

It isn’t per player. It is per tournament. So let’s say relay for Life is hosting the tournament and it cost them 400 dollars to rent out the course. This year it will be 500 dollars.

  • hmmm??

This is stupid!! I think they will lose money by doing this.

  • oops

Wow, if that is true, they can kiss their tournaments goodbye!
