Latest SAFE RIDE Numbers

It was another busy weekend and the SAFE RIDE numbers in Hays continue to grow. According to the latest report from Anna M. Findley, Transportation Manager, DSNWK/ACCESS Public Bus Transportion, The current numbers for SAFE RIDE have are 94,068 miles driven and 88,073 rides given.

The program’s highest single day number of riders was for Octoberfest, October 5, of last year, 656 rides given.  SAFE RIDE SafeRidePhoneButtons-136x150transported over 1,000 people over that 3 day weekend

The SAFE RIDE program began in June 2005 primarily to provide a safe alternative to impaired drivers, but the free rides are available to everyone regardless of the reason for using the service. ACCESS Transportation, part of Developmental Services of Northwest Kansas, operates Safe Ride from 9:30 p.m. to 3:30 a.m. on Wednesdays through Saturdays.
