Big First Half Runs Carries Tigers Past Lincoln
Fort Hays State fell behind by five two and-a-half minutes into their game with Lincoln Friday night at Gross Coliseum, they then went on a 34-10 run over the 11 1/2 minutes and cruise to a 87-53 win over the Blue Tigers. FHSU ends the regular season winning nine of the final 10 to move to 19-7 and 13-5 in the conference where they will finish no worst than second place. Lincoln drops their 11th straight and ends their season 3-25 and 2-16 in the conference.
After the slow start, the Tigers found their shooting stroke, hitting seven of their first eight three-point tries and led by as many as 19 in the first half and pushed it as high as 39 in the second half.
The Tigers shoot 58-percent from the floor, hitting 12-of-23 from three-point range and outrebound Lincoln 44-19. Lincoln connected on just 4-of-22 from beyond the arc.
Freshman Craig Nicholson led the Tigers with 23 points and six assists. Carson Konrade hit all five of his three’s and scored 15, Lance Russell added 14 and Dwayne Brunson 12 along with 11 rebounds.
