Dwayne Brunson scored a game-high 20 points and Ben Congiusta added 15 leading the Fort Hays State Tigers to a 73-57 win over Missouri Western Wednesday night at Gross Coliseum. The Tigers have now won eight of their last nine and improve 18-7 overall and 12-5 in the MIAA. The Griffons, who lose their fourth straight, fall to 9-16 overall and 5-12 in the conference.
The Tigers used a 24-10 first half run to build a 16-point lead with 7:30 to play then went scoreless for the next 5:41 but only allowed three points during that stretch. FHSU scored just five points over the final 7 1/2 minutes of the first half and led by 11 at the break.
FHSU shot 50-percent from the floor and hit 10-of-24 from three-point range. Lance Russell scored 11 and grabbed nine rebounds.
