The Fort Hays State Lady Tigers overcame some poor shooting run their win streak to five, beating Northwest Missouri State 54-53 Wednesday night in Maryville. FHSU is now 16-6 overall and 10-4 in the MIAA. The Bearcats fall to 11-11 and 5-9 in the conference.
The Lady Tigers led by nine midway through the first half and were up three at halftime. Northwest used a 13-4 to go up three with 3:38 to play. The Tigers took the lead back for good with a blocked shot by Kate Lehman leading to a Kate Edwards basket. Traci Keyser hit two free throws with seven seconds to play to put FHSU up 54-51. Kate Edwards fouled Monique Stevens on a three-point shot with 0:01 seconds hit two of the three free throws. Kelsie Sorenson grabbed the rebound to secure the win.
Kate Lehman led the Tigers with 14 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks. Traci Keyser added 10 points. The Lady Tigers shoot just 32-percent for the game including 2-for-15 from beyond the arc.
